What happens during a session?

Following your initial assessment with our feeding therapist and nutritionist, a customised therapy schedule will be determined. Our feeding therapy stands out from other programs as it is tailored to the unique needs of each client, avoiding a one-size-fits-all approach. Sessions typically last between 30 to 60 minutes, depending on individual requirements, and can be scheduled weekly, fortnightly, or monthly.

Conducted by our feeding therapist and nutritionist, sessions involve a comprehensive examination of your history and discussions about current feeding-related concerns or behaviours. Collaboratively, realistic goals are established for both you and your child. These objectives may include exploring a broader range of coloured vegetables, fruits or meats, experimenting with diverse tastes, textures, smells or building tolerance towards specific foods.

Our play-based sessions are designed to be engaging, occasionally messy, and encompass all five senses – taste, sight, touch, smell, and hearing. Progress is made incrementally, ensuring that children feel at ease with each new texture and taste before moving forward. Depending on underlying challenges, your child may engage in sensory integration activities, muscle-strengthening exercises for eating, or use their senses to gain insights into the properties of different foods.
